- We feel the product name is truly misleading here. While it is refered to as a "BBQ sauce", it is actually a more satay like paste. But then this "satay paste" is widely different from Southeast Asian's satay too. All we can say is that this is a unique Taiwanese creation that has every Taiwanese hooked and it is a flavor everyone in Taiwan grows up with as well.
- So what is it? It is a thick paste made from anchovies, garlic, sesame seed, peanut, dry shrimp, chili powder, salt and some secret spices. It's got this addictive garlicky deliciousness and an extremely fragrant aroma to it.
- A popular way to enjoy this paste is by mixing it with soy sauce to make a dipping sauce for Taiwanese hot pot. No true Taiwanese could have a hot pot without this paste, REALLY!
